What this Discord banner size tool does

A Discord banner size tool takes one photo and writes a file at the pixels Discord lists for the image at the top of a boosted server’s channel list. That default is 960×540, a 16:9 frame. Discord Help also accepts a 1920×1080 upload and resizes it in the app; this page writes the 960×540 file so you see the crop before you send it. The blue frame stays put. You drag the photo underneath and use Zoom so a character, a logo, or a landscape sits in the part of the frame that still shows after the server name covers the top 48 pixels.

The same page also switches to a Nitro profile banner at 600×240, a 680×240 profile strip some Help pages list as a minimum, an invite splash at 1920×1080, a server icon at 512×512, a PFP at 512×512, an emoji at 128×128, or a sticker at 320×320. Open Resize Template and the list still has YouTube Banner, LinkedIn Personal Banner, Facebook Cover, and X Banner — each card is a width and height, not a Canva file.

The picture stays in this tab. JPG, PNG, and WebP come off the preview. This is not a live check of Discord, it does not need Boost or Nitro to crop, and it does not publish the banner for you.

Discord banner size, profile strip, and the overlap

Discord Help lists the server banner — the Discord banner size most people mean when they type the phrase — as at least 960×540 pixels at 16:9. A 1920×1080 picture is accepted and resized in the app. Boost Level 2 unlocks a static server banner; Level 3 unlocks an animated GIF of the same size. Keep the top 48 pixels fairly simple so the server title stays readable. PNG, JPG, and GIF are the formats Discord talks about, with a 10 MB cap on the upload there.

A profile banner is a different shape. Tools and older Help pages still print 600×240, a 5:2 strip that needs Nitro. Other Help and crop tools now list 680×240 as the minimum for the custom profile banner. Both cards sit on the Discord row here: Profile Banner writes 600×240, Profile Banner 680×240 writes the wider strip. The round avatar sits over the lower left of that strip, so names and logos belong away from that corner. An invite splash — the background on an invite link — is 1920×1080 and unlocks at Boost Level 1.

After the photo is in the tab, open Size, then Resize Template. Stay on the Discord row and scroll the cards. Server Banner, both profile strips, invite splash, server icon, PFP, emoji, and sticker are already in that list. Those cards change the crop ratio so you do not have to type pixels. The Discord banner size default stays 960×540 until you pick another card.

These are the Discord sizes already in Size. Scroll the Discord row to pick one.

Banner controls

One photo, a list of official Discord pixels, a fixed frame you drag the photo in, a file you can take.

960×540 by default

The crop box opens at the Discord banner size Discord Help recommends for a server header. The shaded strip on the frame marks the top 48 pixels so you can keep type out from under the server name.

Profile banner and other Discord cards

Profile Banner is 600×240. Profile Banner 680×240 is the wider Nitro strip. Invite splash is 1920×1080. Icon and PFP cards are 512×512. Emoji is 128×128. Sticker is 320×320. Open Size and scroll that Discord row. YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook Cover, and X Banner stay in the template list when the same photo has to go elsewhere.

Drag the photo and Zoom 100–300%

The frame stays still. You move the photo under it and raise Zoom to crop tighter. For a server banner, keep faces and logos below the top strip and toward the middle of the 960×540 frame.

Download in this tab

JPG, PNG, or WebP. The preview is the file. Nothing is sent to a server before you save it. Discord still wants the file under 10 MB when you upload there.

How to crop a Discord banner size

Three moves. The crop updates as soon as you pick a size.

Adding a gaming-desk photo to the Discord banner size crop

Add the photo

Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP, browse for it, or paste it. A wide landscape is easier to fit into 960×540 than a tall phone selfie.

Cropping the same gaming-desk photo to 960 by 540 Discord banner pixels

Pick a size and crop

Stay on Discord Server Banner for 960×540, or open Size → Resize Template, stay on Discord, and scroll to Profile Banner 600×240, 680×240, invite splash, or another Discord card. Drag the photo under the blue frame and use Zoom. Watch the top strip on a server banner and the circle on a profile banner.

Downloading the resized Discord banner file of the same desk scene

Download the file

Save JPG or PNG. For a server banner, upload that 960×540 file from Server Settings → Overview. This page does not log you into Discord.

Why crop the Discord banner size here

Discord will crop and compress the file again on desktop and mobile. Seeing that crop before you upload saves a round trip in Server Settings.

You see the server-name overlap

The server title covers the top of a Discord banner size. The shaded strip on this crop shows that band so a wordmark is not hidden under the name.

Server and profile sizes stay separate

960×540 is not 600×240. A file made for a server will squash on a Nitro profile. Pick the card that matches where the file will go.

No account

There is no signup, no watermark, and no credit charge for another photo. Boost and Nitro are Discord’s gates, not this page’s.

Tips and limits

This page handles the Discord banner photo. For the server name, channel names, nick, and profile text next to it, copy a style from a Discord font generator.

  • On a Discord banner size of 960×540, keep type and logos below the top 48 pixels and toward the center. Discord Help asks for a simple top so the server title stays readable. A phone also trims the sides of the same file.
  • A vertical phone photo can still fill 960×540, but most of the top and bottom will be cropped away. A landscape source wastes less of the picture.
  • Discord Help accepts PNG, JPG, and GIF under 10 MB for banners. This page writes a still JPG, PNG, or WebP. An animated GIF banner still needs Boost Level 3 on the server or Nitro on a profile, and you make that GIF elsewhere. Image Compressor is the page if the still file is still heavy.
  • This page resizes still images. It does not open Discord, does not animate a GIF banner, and does not write a PSD or a Canva project.

Where this file gets used

Server header first. The same photo can switch to a Nitro profile banner, an invite splash, or another platform size from the template list.

Server banner

A 960×540 Discord banner size for the header above the channel list. Place the important part below the top strip here, then upload the file in Server Settings after the server reaches Boost Level 2.

Nitro profile banner

Switch to 600×240 or 680×240 when the file is for your profile card, not a server. Keep type off the lower-left circle. Nitro is required on Discord to set that banner; this crop does not need Nitro.

Invite splash, icon, and other platforms

An invite splash is 1920×1080. A server icon and a PFP are 512×512. Emoji is 128×128. Open Size, stay on Discord, and scroll those cards. YouTube Banner, LinkedIn Banner, Facebook Cover, and X Banner are further down the same list. Discord Server Banner 960×540 stays the default.

What this page will not do

This Discord banner size page is not Discord. It does not log in, does not publish, and does not read your server. You take the file and upload it there. Boost Level 2 for a server banner and Nitro for a profile banner are Discord’s rules.

It is not a generic pixel resizer for arbitrary documents. Image Resizer is the page for percentage scale and a bulk of photos. Crop Image is the page for a freeform box with no template. YouTube Banner Resizer is the page whose default is 2560×1440 channel art. LinkedIn Banner Size is the page whose default is 1584×396.

It does not export an animated GIF, PSD, SVG, or video. It does not generate AI cover art from a prompt. A photo you already have is the input.

Discord banner size questions

What is the Discord banner size?

Discord Help recommends at least 960×540 pixels at 16:9 for the server banner at the top of the channel list. That is the default this page writes. A Nitro profile banner is a different file: 600×240, or 680×240 on the wider card. An invite splash is 1920×1080.

What is the Discord server banner size?

960×540 pixels, 16:9. Discord also accepts a 1920×1080 upload and resizes it in the app. Boost Level 2 unlocks a static server banner; Level 3 unlocks an animated GIF of the same size. Stay on the Server Banner card to crop 960×540.

What is the Discord profile banner size?

A Nitro profile banner is commonly cropped at 600×240, a 5:2 strip. Some Help pages and crop tools now list 680×240 as the minimum. This page has both cards on the Discord row. The round avatar covers the lower left of that strip.

Is 680×240 the Discord banner size?

680×240 is a profile-banner minimum, not the server header. The Discord banner size for a server stays 960×540. Open Profile Banner 680×240 when the file is for a Nitro profile card. Do not upload a 680×240 strip as a server banner.

What is the Discord banner size in pixels?

960 pixels wide by 540 pixels tall for a server banner. Profile Banner is 600 by 240. Profile Banner 680×240 is 680 by 240. Invite splash is 1920 by 1080. The download filename includes those pixels so you can check the file before you upload it.

What is the Discord banner size ratio?

A server banner is 16:9. A 600×240 profile banner is 5:2. A 680×240 profile banner is a wider strip, about 17:6. Mixing those ratios is why a server file looks squashed on a profile. Pick the card that matches the place the file will live.

What size is a Discord invite banner?

The invite splash — the background on an invite link — is 1920×1080 pixels. Boost Level 1 unlocks it. Switch to Invite Splash on the Discord row. That file is not the 960×540 channel-list banner.

Does Discord banner size on mobile change the file?

Discord keeps one 960×540 server file and crops it. A phone trims the sides, and the server name still covers the top. Keep names and logos below the top strip and toward the center of the same file.

What is the Discord banner GIF size?

An animated server GIF uses the same 960×540 frame and needs Boost Level 3. A Nitro profile GIF uses the profile strip and a 10 MB cap. This page crops a still frame and saves JPG, PNG, or WebP. Make the looping GIF in a GIF editor, then upload that file on Discord.

Do I need Nitro for a Discord banner size crop?

No. This crop runs in the browser without Discord login. Setting the banner on Discord is the part that needs Nitro for a profile or Boost Level 2 for a server. You can still download the file here either way.

Is this Discord banner size crop free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark, and no charge to crop a photo and save it. You can open another picture after the first one. Credits on this site are for the paid AI tools, not for this resize.

Does the photo get uploaded?

No. The crop runs in this tab. The picture is not sent to a server before you download the file. Close the tab and the bytes leave with it.

What is the Discord banner file size limit?

Discord Help caps banner uploads at 10 MB. This page does not enforce that cap. If the JPG is still heavy, open Image Compressor, then upload the smaller file on Discord.

Can I type a custom size?

Yes. Open Custom and type width and height in pixels, up to 8192 on a side. The crop box follows that ratio. For Discord itself, stay on the official cards so the file matches Help.

Can I resize for YouTube, LinkedIn, or X here too?

Yes. After the photo is open, Resize Template has YouTube Banner, LinkedIn Personal Banner, Facebook Cover, X Banner, Instagram, Twitch, and other pixel cards. The Discord banner size 960×540 is the default. Pick the card that matches where the file will go.
