What does upscale image do here?
This page is a free image upscaler that can upscale image files you already have. You add a JPG, PNG, or WebP. An on-device Real-ESRGAN model enlarges the still 2× or 4× and shows the new pixels in the preview. People type upscale image, image upscaler, upscale image online, or enlarge image. The job on this URL is the same: a file you can download, usually as a PNG so the extra pixels are not squeezed again.
It is not a Photoshop, Lightroom, or Canva lesson. Those searches want a menu in another app. It is not the paid AI Image Upscaler on this site, which uploads a still and spends credits on a cloud model. That cloud box can take a larger source and a different quality target. This box trades that for privacy and a $0 bill. A plain bicubic resize in Preview or Photos is a third product — it only stretches the pixels you already have.
The file never goes to our server to finish the enlarge. JPG, PNG, and WebP are welcome. HEIC, TIFF, and PDF are declined on purpose. Video, 8×, 16×, and a folder watcher stay off this URL. One photo is enough. A computer loads the stronger ~34MB weights after the first screen paints. A phone uses a lighter ~5MB model so the tab stays alive.

What you can do here
One photo is enough to upscale image for a slide, a print proof, or a sharper social export. The same box covers image upscaler and enlarge image searches.
On-device enlarge, no upload
After the first model load, each still is processed in this tab. The photo is not posted to an upscale API. Closing the tab clears the file from this page, the same privacy rule as Crop Image and Remove Background.
2× or 4×, not a model picker
4× is the native Real-ESRGAN pass. 2× runs that same pass and then downsamples, which often looks cleaner on a noisy JPEG. There is no user switch between the 34MB and 5MB weights — the device picks, and a failed desktop session falls back to the light model.
Preview is the download
The compare slider under the result is the file you save. Identity under the preview shows the filename, the source size, the output size, and 2× or 4×. View stays on this page. Copy and Download do not send you to someone else’s file host.
Honest about quality and size
A tiny or blurry source improves, but this is not a native 4K capture and not an 8× studio. The long edge is capped before inference so the tab does not run out of memory. Named 4K / 8K exports stay off this free URL.
How to upscale an image in 3 steps
Works on a phone or a computer. No account. A phone uses a lighter image upscaler, so texture can be softer. For a stronger pass, use a desktop.
Add a photo
Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP on the dashed box, or pick a file. One photo is enough. iPhone HEIC is rejected until you save a JPG or PNG.

Pick 2× or 4×, then wait
4× is the default native pass. Switch to 2× if you only need a modest enlarge. The first run downloads the model and caches it. Later stills in this browser skip that wait.

Download the PNG
Drag the compare line, open View, copy, or download PNG. JPG and WebP are there if you must flatten. Keep PNG when you just paid for extra pixels.

Why enlarge here
This page only writes a larger still. Upscale image, image upscaler, and enlarge image are the same job in the search box.
No upload and no credits
The file never goes to our server to finish the enlarge. There is no account wall and no credit pill on this URL. That is the opposite of the paid AI Image Upscaler, which does upload and does use credits.
The preview is the file
You do not press a remote Enhance, then wait, then guess which file came back. What you see on the compare slider is what you save. Identity shows the filename and both pixel sizes.
Honest about other apps
We do not walk you through Photoshop, Lightroom, or Canva. If you need their Super Resolution menus, use those apps. If you already have a JPG or PNG export, drop that file here.
Not a bicubic stretch
A normal resize only interpolates. This image upscaler runs a trained super-resolution network that can rebuild edges and ease JPEG blocks. It still cannot invent a face that was never in the file.
Limits and tips
- A reasonably sharp source enlarges cleaner than a postage-stamp blur. The model adds plausible texture; it does not recover a missed focus.
- 4× is for small stills. 2× is enough when the source is already decent and you only need a retina asset.
- PNG keeps the new pixels lossless. JPG will compress them again.
- The first upscale image run is the slow one because the model downloads. Later runs in this browser reuse the cache.
- On a phone the model is lighter because of device limits. For a stronger pass, do it on a computer.
- Each file must stay under 20 MB. A long edge is capped before inference so the tab stays responsive.
- HEIC from iPhone, TIFF, and PDF are rejected. Save a JPG or PNG first.
- This is not video, not 8× or 16×, and not a 50-image factory.
- You own the photo you add. This page is not legal advice and does not grant a copyright license.
Jobs that finish on this page
These are still enlarges. Software-menu searches stay off this list on purpose.
A social export that looks soft
A JPEG that already went through a chat app. Add the photo, leave 4× on, wait for the tiles, download PNG, then compress if the file is huge.
Input: One JPG from a chat or a camera roll
Setting: 4×, PNG
Output: One larger still with fewer blocks
Caveat: This is not a 4K promise and not a face-restore studio.
A small logo or sprite for a slide
A mark that looks mushy on a projector. Add the PNG, try 2× first so the file stays modest, check View at 100%.
Input: One PNG logo or game sprite
Setting: 2×, PNG
Output: One sharper mark for a deck
Caveat: Thin strokes can still look invented. This is not a vector tracer.
An old family scan for a print proof
A 600-pixel scan you want to judge at a larger size before paying a lab. Use 4× on a desktop, then decide if the texture is honest enough.
Input: One JPG or PNG scan
Setting: 4× on a computer, PNG
Output: One proof file to inspect
Caveat: A heavy blur will look better, not native. Do not treat this as a restoration lab.

Upscale image FAQ
How do I upscale an image? +
Add a JPG, PNG, or WebP to the dashed box. Pick 2× or 4×. Wait for the first model download, then for the tiles. When the compare preview looks right, download the file. You do not need Photoshop or an installer for this still.
Is this image upscaler free? +
Yes. This URL does not charge credits and does not ask for an account. The enlarge stays in the browser. The paid AI Image Upscaler is a different page and a different bill.
Does this upscale image tool upload my photo? +
No. The still is read in this tab. The model file is loaded once from this site, then the pixels stay on the device. Closing the tab clears the preview. That is why this page stays free.
What is the difference between 2× and 4×? +
The network is native 4×. A 2× result is that 4× output resampled down, which often looks cleaner on a noisy JPEG and keeps the file smaller. Use 4× when the source is small. This page does not offer 8× or 16×.
Why does the first use take longer? +
The first upscale image run downloads the on-device weights and caches them. A phone fetches about 5MB. A computer fetches about 34MB after the first screen paints. Later stills in the same browser skip that download.
How does this differ from a normal resize? +
A normal resize stretches the pixels you already have, so edges go soft. This image upscaler runs Real-ESRGAN in the browser and can rebuild texture as it enlarges. It still cannot invent a native high-resolution capture from a blur.
Can I enlarge image files on iPhone or Android? +
Yes. Use Safari or Chrome. A phone uses the lighter model, so the result can look softer than on a computer. For a stronger pass, open this page on a desktop. iPhone Photos HEIC is rejected until you save a JPG or PNG.
Is enlarge image the same as this page? +
In search, yes — enlarge image, upscale image, and image upscaler land on the same job. This URL is the free, on-device version. It is not a cloud API and not a 4K named-size factory.
How do I upscale image in Photoshop or Canva? +
This page does not open those apps. Those searches want a Super Resolution or Magic Studio menu there. If you already exported a JPG or PNG, drop that file here. We will not pretend this URL is their tutorial.
How is this different from the AI Image Upscaler? +
That page uploads the photo and spends credits on a cloud model, with a 2MP cap and a daily trial. This page never uploads and never bills. Hair, print, and a larger source are the reason to use the paid URL instead.
Will a blurry or tiny photo look perfect? +
It will look better, not native. The model adds plausible detail and eases compression. A heavy blur or a stamp-sized source will not become a camera original. Check View before you print.
What formats can I add? +
JPG, PNG, and WebP. Each file must stay under 20 MB. HEIC, TIFF, PDF, SVG, and video clips are rejected. Convert a still to JPG or PNG first, then add that file.
Can I get a 4K or 8K file? +
Not as a named promise. The long edge is capped before the pass so the browser stays up. A 4× result from a capped source can already be large. 8K and 16K searches belong to cloud tools, not this tab.
Does it work offline after the first load? +
After the model is cached, later enlarges in this browser do not need to fetch the weights again. You still need the page itself. We do not ship a separate desktop app.
Does it work on Windows and Mac? +
Yes. Chrome or Edge on Windows, macOS, or Linux can use the computer GPU for the stronger model. Safari and browsers without WebGPU fall back to the lighter model so the tab stays usable. You do not need Photos, Preview, or Paint.
Is this legal, and who owns the photo? +
You keep the rights to the file you add. We do not store it and we do not give you a copyright license for someone else’s picture. This is not legal advice. If the photo is not yours to edit, do not enlarge it here.
