What this YouTube banner resizer does

A YouTube banner resizer takes one photo and writes a file at the pixel size YouTube expects for channel art. The default is 2560×1440. The blue frame stays put. You drag the photo underneath and use Zoom so a face, a logo, or a product sits in the strip that every device still shows.

The same page also switches to a YouTube thumbnail 1280×720, a Shorts 1080×1920, a community square, or a channel profile. Open Resize Template and the list has Facebook Cover, Instagram, X Banner, LinkedIn, Twitch, Discord, and more — each card is a width and height, not a Canva file. One photo, then pick the size you need.

The picture stays in this tab. JPG, PNG, and WebP come off the preview. This is not a live check of YouTube Studio, and it does not publish the banner for you.

Wide landscape photo cropped as YouTube channel art with a centered safe area

YouTube banner size and the safe area

YouTube channel art is 2560 pixels wide and 1440 pixels tall. That is the file you upload. TV can show the whole frame. A computer, a tablet, and a phone each cut a shorter band from the middle of the same file.

The overlap that stays visible on every device is 1546×423, centered in 2560×1440. Put names, faces, and logos in that middle band. Edges of the canvas can go empty or decorative, because desktop and phone will hide them. Place the important part toward the center of the same 2560×1440 file.

A thumbnail is a different job: 1280×720 sits on a video, not on the channel header. Shorts is 1080×1920. Facebook Cover, X Banner, LinkedIn, and the rest live in the same template list. Those cards change the crop ratio so you do not have to type pixels.

Banner controls

One photo, a list of sizes, a fixed frame you drag the photo in, a file you can take.

2560×1440 by default

YouTube Banner, Channel Art, and Cover share the official channel-art pixels. The crop box opens at that ratio as soon as the photo loads.

Lots of sizes to switch

YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Twitch, Discord, and more sit in category chips. Pick a card and the frame jumps to that width and height — Facebook Cover, X Banner, a thumbnail, Shorts, or a custom pixel size.

Drag the photo and Zoom 100–300%

The frame stays still. You move the photo under it and raise Zoom to crop tighter. For channel art, keep names and faces toward the center 1546×423 band.

Download in this tab

JPG, PNG, or WebP. The preview is the file. Nothing is sent to a server before you save it.

How to resize a YouTube banner

Three moves. The crop updates as soon as you pick a size.

Adding a photo to the YouTube banner resizer

Add the photo

Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP, browse for it, or paste it. A wide landscape is easier to fit into 2560×1440 than a tall phone selfie.

Cropping a landscape photo to 2560 by 1440 YouTube banner pixels

Pick a size and crop

Stay on YouTube Banner for channel art, or open Resize Template and pick another card — thumbnail, Shorts, Facebook Cover, X Banner, or a custom size. Drag the photo under the blue frame and use Zoom.

Downloading the resized YouTube banner file

Download the file

Save JPG, PNG, or WebP. For channel art, upload that 2560×1440 file in YouTube Studio. This page does not log you into YouTube.

Why crop the banner here

YouTube will crop the file again. Seeing that crop before you upload saves a round trip in Studio.

You see the device cut

Desktop and phone hide the top and bottom of 2560×1440. Keep type and faces in the center 1546×423 band so one file holds up on TV, computer, and phone.

Switch without retyping pixels

A thumbnail, a Shorts frame, or an X banner is another card. The box keeps the part of the photo you already chose when the ratio still fits.

No account

There is no signup, no watermark, and no credit charge for another photo.

Tips and limits

  • Keep type and faces in the 1546×423 center band on 2560×1440. Edges of the canvas are decoration for TV, not a place for a channel name.
  • A vertical phone photo can still fill 2560×1440, but most of the sides will be cropped away. A landscape source wastes less of the picture.
  • YouTube’s current minimum for channel art is 2048×1152. This page still writes 2560×1440 for Banner, Channel Art, and Cover so Studio has the recommended file.
  • This page resizes still images. It does not open YouTube Studio, does not animate a video banner, and does not write a PSD or a Canva project.

Where this file gets used

Channel art first. The same photo can switch to a YouTube thumbnail, Shorts, Facebook Cover, X Banner, or another platform size from the template list.

Channel art

A 2560×1440 banner for the header on youtube.com. Place the important part in the center band here, then upload the file in Studio.

Video thumbnail

Switch to 1280×720 when the same photo has to sit on a video card instead of the channel header.

Shorts, community, and other platforms

Shorts is 1080×1920. A community post is often square. Facebook Cover, Instagram, X Banner, LinkedIn, Twitch, and Discord are cards in the same list. YouTube Banner 2560×1440 stays the default.

What this page will not do

This YouTube banner resizer is not YouTube Studio. It does not log in, does not publish, and does not read your channel. You take the file and upload it there.

It is not a generic pixel resizer for arbitrary documents. Image Resizer is the page for percentage scale and a bulk of photos. Crop Image is the page for a freeform box with no template.

It does not export PSD, SVG, or video. It does not generate AI channel art from a prompt. A photo you already have is the input.

YouTube banner resizer questions

What size is a YouTube banner?

YouTube channel art is 2560×1440 pixels. That is the file this YouTube banner resizer writes for Banner, Channel Art, and Cover. TV can show the whole frame. Computers, tablets, and phones show a shorter strip from the middle.

What is the YouTube banner safe area?

The area that stays visible on every device is 1546×423 pixels, centered in the 2560×1440 canvas. Put names and faces in that middle band. The rest of the canvas can be background.

Is this YouTube banner resizer free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark, and no charge to crop a photo and save it. You can open another picture after the first one.

Does the photo get uploaded?

No. The YouTube banner resizer runs in this tab. The picture is not sent to a server before you download the file.

Can I make a YouTube thumbnail here too?

Yes. Switch to YouTube Thumbnail for 1280×720. Shorts is 1080×1920. A community post is 1080×1080. Those cards sit on the YouTube row.

Can I resize for Facebook, Instagram, or X here too?

Yes. After the photo is open, Resize Template has Facebook Cover, Instagram, X Banner, LinkedIn, Twitch, Discord, and other pixel cards. YouTube Banner 2560×1440 is the default. Pick the card that matches where the file will go. This is still a still-image crop, not a design generator.

What file do I get — JPG, PNG, or WebP?

JPG, PNG, or WebP. YouTube Studio accepts common still formats. Pick JPG for a smaller photo, PNG when you need a sharp logo edge.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Add the photo, pick a size, drag the photo under the frame, and download. For channel art, keep the important part toward the center 1546×423 band of the same 2560×1440 file.

Can I type a custom size?

Yes. Open Custom and type width and height in pixels, up to 8192 on a side. The crop box follows that ratio.
