What is this add text to image tool?
This page paints letters on a photo in the browser. You add a still, type in the box, drag it, set font size and color, and download one file. People type add text to image, add text to photo, add text to picture, text on image, or write on image. Those phrases are the same job: visible type on a still you already have.
The job is not HTML alt text. Alt text is a hidden attribute for screen readers. This URL does not write website metadata. It is also not Overlay Images — that page stamps a second photo or a logo PNG. It is not Photoshop, Canva, Word, Google Docs, PowerPoint, or Snipping Tool. Those searches want a menu in another app. It is not an AI caption writer, curved type, 3D, animated text, Anki occlusion, or a video captioner.
The photo never goes to our server. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF are welcome. HEIC, TIFF, and PDF are declined on purpose. You can stack several text boxes, add an outline so the letters read on a busy background, and fade opacity for a quiet watermark. The live preview is already the file you download.

What you can do here
Add a photo and the preview is already the file. Type, drag, and outline. Download PNG, JPG, or WebP.
A photo, then the words
One slot sits on the first screen. After the still opens, a text box is waiting. The same path covers add text to photo and write on image without a project file or a signup wall.
Drag, size, and outline
Move the box on the live preview. Size is a slider and also the corner handles. Outline keeps white type readable. Bold and italic are on the selected layer.
More than one line
Press return inside a box, or add another text layer. Each layer keeps its own font, color, and place. That is enough for a title plus a name. It is not a design document.
Fonts the browser already has
Arial, Georgia, Impact, Times, Verdana, and a few more. This tab does not install a font pack and does not bend letters around a path.
PNG, JPG, or WebP on this device
JPG is the usual camera download. PNG keeps crisp type on a graphic. WebP sits between the two. The run uses canvas in this tab.
How to add text to an image in 3 steps
No account. No installer. Add text to image online: add the photo, type, take the download.
Add the photo
Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP. A text box appears on the still. Use Change photo if the first pick was the wrong frame.

Type and place the words
Type in the field. Drag the box on the preview. Set font, size, color, and outline. Add another layer if you need a second line in a different place.

Download the file
Read the filename and pixel size on the result card. Choose PNG, JPG, or WebP, then Download. View opens the same file in this page. Copy puts a PNG on the clipboard when the browser allows it.

Why add text here
The add text to image preview is the file. Nothing is uploaded, and Overlay Images stays one click away if you wanted a logo file instead of type.
The preview is the download
One photo in and you already see the letters. There is no extra Render click and no waiting on a cloud queue. This tab finishes the pixels.
Private by default
The canvas never posts the photo. A client proof, a captioned family still, or a private screenshot stays on this device.
Honest about the neighbor job
If you wanted a logo PNG on the photo, that is Overlay Images. This page will not pretend typed letters are a stamp file. The settings card links to the overlay URL.
No account in the path
There is no signup wall, watermark, or export quota. If the browser can decode the photo, you can type on it and take the result with you.
Limits and tips
- Caption: White type, a dark outline, and a size that still reads at the photo’s real pixels. Letters are drawn at the file size, not at the small preview.
- Watermark: Type your name or site, drop opacity to about 35%, and park it in a corner. This site does not add its own mark.
- Busy background: Raise outline width before you raise size. A thick edge is cheaper than covering the subject with a huge box.
- Cap: Eight text boxes sit on one photo so the tab stays alive. Extra layers stay out until you remove one. The long edge stops at 8000 px.
- Format: After the letters sit, pick JPG for a camera still. Pick PNG for a graphic or a screenshot with crisp type. WebP is a smaller middle path.
- Not this page: HTML alt text, AI generate, curved or 3D type, Canva, Photoshop, Word, Google Docs, Anki occlusion, Snapchat, or a video caption. Those jobs live elsewhere.
Recipes that finish on this page
Each card is a real input, a setting, and the file you should get.
Caption on a landscape still
A place name or a short line on a trip photo. The words stay on the still you already shot.
Input: A camera JPG and a short place name
Setting: Impact or Arial, white fill, dark outline, bottom third
Output: One JPG with the caption sitting on the photo
Caveat: Huge type at 100% covers the subject. Size it on the preview, then check View.
Quiet name watermark
Photographers come here when they want a name that does not hide the frame. Fade it and keep it small.
Input: A portfolio JPG and your name or site
Setting: Arial, 30–45% opacity, bottom-right, thin outline
Output: One JPG or PNG with a faded line
Caveat: A huge mark at 100% is a stamp, not a watermark. Scale it first.
Quote on a portrait
A short quote or a name under a headshot. Text on image here still means the photo you added, not a generated scene.
Input: A portrait JPG and two lines of type
Setting: Georgia, left or center, outline if the background is busy
Output: One JPG with the quote on the still
Caveat: This page does not wrap type to a circle. Keep the lines short.
Label on a product shot
A price, a size, or a SKU on a shop photo. Add text to picture is this card when you do not need a logo file.
Input: A product JPG and a short label
Setting: Verdana, high contrast, one extra layer for a second fact
Output: One PNG or JPG with the label on the product
Caveat: A logo PNG belongs on Overlay Images. Type will not match a brand mark.
