What does crop image mean here?

This page is a browser crop image tool — an image cropper for a file you already have. You add a photo and keep the pixels inside a rectangle. People type crop image, crop image online, image cropper, crop photo, crop picture, or photo cropper. The job is the same: a tighter still you can download as JPG, PNG, or WebP.

A crop image job is not a resize. Resize changes how many pixels sit in the leftover frame. This page throws the outside away. It is not a circle crop, not an AI subject cutout, and not a face detector. Those are different products. It is not a Photoshop, Preview, Photos, Canva, or Word lesson. Those searches want a menu in another app.

The file never goes to our server. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF are welcome. HEIC, TIFF, and PDF are declined on purpose. One photo is enough. A small batch keeps a box on each file. After you like the crop, Split Image can cut that still into a grid or a print poster.

What you can do here

One photo is enough for a crop image job, a crop photo download, or a free image cropper result. The same page also covers crop picture and crop image online. A small batch keeps a separate box on every file.

A box on the photo

A crop frame is already on when the photo opens. Drag the middle to move it. Drag a corner or an edge to resize. The dimmed area is what you throw away.

Free or a locked ratio

Leave Free for any rectangle. Lock 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16, or 4:5 when the still has to match a feed, a slide, or a print. The box stays inside the photo.

The download is the box

View, copy, or download JPG, PNG, or WebP of the pixels inside the frame. Identity under the preview shows the filename, the full size, and the crop size.

Then split it

This URL lives on Split Image so you can crop image online first, then cut the tighter still into tiles. Flip and rotate stay on their own pages if the photo still needs those jobs.

How to crop image files in 3 steps

Works on a phone or a computer. No account. Same path for crop image online, crop photo, and image cropper.

1

See the crop

The still below is the job. The blue box keeps the canoe. Dim pixels are thrown away. Drop your own photo in the dashed box above to cut the same way.

2

Drag the crop box

Move the rectangle or pull a handle. Lock 1:1 or 16:9 if you need that ratio. Original shows the full file. Reset puts the box back.

3

Download the cropped file

View it here, copy it, or download JPG, PNG, or WebP. Two or more photos download as a ZIP. Then open Split Image if you want tiles from that crop.

Why crop image files here

This page only cuts a rectangle on a still. Crop image, image cropper, crop photo, and crop picture are the same job in the search box.

No upload

The file never goes to our server to finish the crop image job. Closing the tab clears it from this page. That is the same privacy rule as Flip Image and the rest of this site.

The box is the download

You do not press Crop, then wait, then guess which file came back. What sits inside the frame is what you save. Identity shows the crop pixels next to the original size.

Honest about other apps

We do not walk you through Photoshop, Preview, Photos, Canva, or Word. If you need those crop handles, use those apps. If you need a cropped JPG now, use this box.

Built to go split next

A generic image cropper stops at the download. This page sits next to Split Image so a poster, a 3×3, or an Instagram grid starts from the part you kept.

Limits and tips

  • Cropping removes pixels outside the box. It does not resample the leftover frame to a new width unless a side is longer than 8000 px.
  • A cropped file cannot get the thrown edges back. Keep the original if you still need the wide shot.
  • Circle crop and round corners are not this URL. AI auto crop and background cutout are not this URL either.
  • Each file must stay under 40 MB. A side longer than 8000 px is scaled down before the crop.
  • HEIC from iPhone, TIFF, and PDF are rejected. Save a JPG or PNG first.
  • PNG keeps transparency inside the box. JPG fills empty pixels with white because JPEG has no alpha.
  • Flip Image and Rotate Image fix orientation. Do that first if the photo is sideways, then come back here to crop image online.
  • You own the photo you add. This page is not legal advice and does not grant a copyright license.

Jobs that finish on this page

These are crop image jobs. Software-menu searches stay off this list on purpose.

Crop a landscape before you print tiles

A wide lake photo that should become a poster without the empty sky. Lock 16:9 or Free, keep the horizon, download, then open Split Image for printing.

Input: One wide JPG photo

Setting: Crop on, 16:9 or Free

Output: One cropped JPG

Caveat: This is not the print PDF tool. Crop here, then use Split Image for printing or Split Image to PDF.

Square a product photo

A shop still that must sit in a 1:1 tile. Lock 1:1, slide the box onto the product, download PNG if you want a clean encode.

Input: One PNG product shot

Setting: 1:1 lock

Output: One square PNG or JPG

Caveat: This is not a background remover. The square still includes whatever sits inside the box.

Same ratio on a small batch

A folder of event photos that all need 4:5 for a feed. Add up to 30, lock 4:5 on each, download the ZIP.

Input: Several JPG files

Setting: 4:5 on each file

Output: A ZIP of cropped files

Caveat: It is not a desktop folder watcher or a 100-file factory.

Crop image FAQ

What does crop image do on this page? +

It keeps the pixels inside the box and throws the rest away. You add a photo, drag the crop frame, lock a ratio if you want, and download that still as JPG, PNG, or WebP. Nothing is uploaded. This page does not resize the leftover pixels to a new canvas size, and it is not a circle crop.

Is this a free image cropper I can use online? +

Yes. This URL is a free image cropper and a crop image online tool. You do not create an account. There is no paid unlock for the crop itself. The file stays in this tab until you close it.

How do I crop image files online? +

Add a JPG, PNG, or WebP. A crop box is already on the photo. Drag the box or its corners, pick Free or a ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9, then download. You do not need Photoshop, Preview, or Photos for a simple crop image job.

Can I crop to a specific aspect ratio? +

Yes. Lock 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16, or 4:5, or leave Free and draw any rectangle. The box stays inside the photo. The download is those source pixels, not a padded letterbox.

Does cropping reduce image quality? +

Cropping removes pixels outside the box. Pixels inside the box stay at the source density. PNG keeps a lossless encode. JPG or WebP re-encodes with the quality slider. A side longer than 8000 px is scaled down so the tab stays usable.

Are my images uploaded to a server? +

No. The image cropper runs in this browser. We do not upload the photo to finish the crop. Closing the tab clears it from this page. That is the same privacy rule as Flip Image and the rest of this site.

Do I need an app or browser extension? +

No. Use the browser you already have. This crop image online page does not install an app, a Chrome extension, or a desktop cropper. Add a file, drag the box, download.

Does it work on mobile? +

Yes. Safari or Chrome on a phone can add a JPG or PNG, drag the crop box, and download. Handles are large enough to grab. A very long edge is scaled before the crop so the tab does not freeze.

Can I crop a photo on Windows or Mac? +

Yes. Open this page in Chrome, Edge, or Safari. Drop a photo. Drag the box. Download the cropped file. You do not need Photos, Preview, or Paint for a one-file crop image job.

How do I crop an image in Photoshop, Canva, Preview, or Word? +

This page does not open those apps. Those searches want a menu in that software. If you already have a JPG or PNG export, drop that file here to crop image online and download a new still. We will not pretend this URL is their tutorial.

Can I crop more than one image at once? +

Yes. Add up to 30 photos. Each file keeps its own crop box. Download one, or download all as a ZIP. That covers a small batch. It is not a 100-file factory and not a folder watcher.

What formats can I crop? +

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF. Each file must stay under 40 MB. HEIC, TIFF, and PDF are rejected on purpose. Convert those to JPG first, then add the converted file to this image cropper.

Can I download a PNG or keep transparency? +

Yes. Add the PNG, finish the crop, and pick PNG under Download as. Transparent pixels inside the box stay transparent. JPG fills empty pixels with white because JPEG has no alpha. There is no PSD export.

Is this a circle crop or an AI crop? +

No. This crop image page only cuts a rectangle. Circle and round-corner jobs are a different URL. Auto crop, face crop, and subject cutout are not this tool. We will not pretend a box is a magic crop.

Does it add a watermark? +

No. The cropped download has no watermark and no account wall. The file you take is the pixels inside the box, encoded as JPG, PNG, or WebP.

Can I split the cropped image after I crop? +

Yes. That is why this URL lives on Split Image. Crop image first on this page, download or keep the preview, then open Split Image to cut the cropped still into a grid, a print poster, or an Instagram tile set.
