What does image size checker mean here?

This page is a browser image size checker — an image size finder for a file you already have. You add a photo and read the numbers. People type image size checker, image size finder, check image size, image dimension checker, check image dimensions, photo size checker, or image size check. The job is the same: width and height in pixels, plus how heavy the file is.

People say “image size” and mean three different things. Pixels are the grid (image width and height). File size is KB or MB on disk. Print size is those pixels divided by a DPI you choose, in inches or centimetres. This image size checker answers all three in one readout. It does not resize the grid, does not compress to a target KB, and does not convert JPG to PNG.

The file never goes to our server. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF are welcome. HEIC, TIFF, and PDF are declined on purpose. One photo is enough. A small batch is a bulk image size checker for a folder you already have, not a website crawler. If the pixels are wrong, Image Resizer is next. If the MB number is the problem, Image Compressor is next.

What you can do here

One photo is enough for an image size checker job, an image size finder result, or a check image size readout. A small batch keeps a separate line on every file.

Pixels first

The headline is width × height in pixels. That is the image dimension checker number platforms actually want — 1080 wide, 20×20, 1920×1080 — not how large the photo looks in a browser window.

File size in KB

The same image size checker reports bytes, KB, and MB from the File API. That is how you see how many MB a photo is. Shrinking that number is a different URL.

Aspect, megapixels, format

You also get a simplified aspect ratio, megapixels, orientation, and the encoded format. Image resolution finder searches usually want this pixel grid, not a hidden DPI chip.

Print size you control

Type a DPI. 300 is a common print shop default. The image size checker converts pixels into inches and centimetres. That is a conversion, not a claim that the camera stored a perfect ruler.

How to check image size in 3 steps

Works on a phone or a computer. No account. Same path for image size checker, image size finder, and check image dimensions.

1

Add the photo

Drop a JPG or PNG, click to browse, or paste. The image size checker opens the file in this tab. Nothing is uploaded.

Hands dropping the same blue bicycle photo onto a dashed upload area to start the image size checker.
2

Read the numbers

Width and height in pixels sit at the top. File size, megapixels, aspect ratio, and format fill in beside the preview. Change DPI if you need inches or centimetres.

The same blue bicycle photo on screen with width and height ticks along the edges, no interface text.
3

Copy the readout

Copy stats into a note, or click one value. This page does not export a new image. Use Image Resizer or Image Compressor if the file itself still has to change.

Why check image size here

This page only reads a still. Image size checker, image size finder, check image size, and photo size checker are the same job in the search box.

No upload

The file never goes to our server to finish the image size checker job. Closing the tab clears it. That is the same privacy rule as Flip Image and the rest of this site.

Three meanings of size, labelled

Pixels, KB, and print size are easy to mix up. The readout names each one so you do not send a 4000 px photo to a 20×20 slot, or confuse a 2 MB encode with a 1080 px grid.

Honest about neighbors

Image resizer, file size checker as a compressor, and crop stay on their own URLs. This image size finder will not pretend a readout is a new export.

Built to hand off

After you check image dimensions, Split Image can still cut the same still into a grid. Resize and compress sit one click away when the numbers say the file is wrong for the slot.

Limits and tips

  • The pixel numbers on this image size checker are the file’s naturalWidth and naturalHeight. A website may draw that photo smaller on screen. Platforms that ask for “at least 1080 px” mean this grid, not the CSS box.
  • File size is the encoded file. Two photos can share 1920×1080 pixels and still differ by many MB. That is compression, not a second pixel grid.
  • Inches and centimetres depend on the DPI you type. 96 is a common screen assumption. 300 is a common print assumption. The file may not store a trustworthy DPI tag.
  • This image size checker does not crawl every image on a website from a page URL. Add the files you have. Check image size on a file, not on a whole domain.
  • HEIC from iPhone, TIFF, and PDF are rejected. Save a JPG or PNG first.
  • Each file must stay under 40 MB. A side longer than 8000 px is scaled for the on-page preview only; the printed pixel size stays the source size.
  • Need a new width? Image Resizer. Need fewer KB? Image Compressor. Need a tighter rectangle? Crop Image.
  • You own the photo you add. This page is not legal advice and does not grant a copyright license.

Jobs that finish on this page

These are image size checker jobs: check image size, find image size, and read photo dimensions. Resize, compress, and software-menu searches stay off this list on purpose.

Confirm a social still before you post

A square feed slot that must be 1080 px on a side. Use the image size checker to read width and height, then stop if the file already fits. Resize only if the grid is short.

Input: One JPG or PNG

Setting: Default readout, 300 DPI unused

Output: Width × height in pixels plus KB

Caveat: This is not Instagram Grid Maker and not Image Resizer.

See how large a photo prints

A camera still you want as a 4×6 print. Set 300 DPI and read inches and centimetres. Image dimensions in centimetres are that conversion.

Input: One high-resolution JPG

Setting: DPI 300

Output: Print size in in and cm

Caveat: This is not a print PDF poster tool. Split Image for printing cuts a large still onto sheets.

Audit a small folder

Event photos that must all clear 2000 px on the long side. Add a batch, click each row, copy stats for the ones that fail.

Input: Several JPG files

Setting: Bulk list, default DPI

Output: Per-file pixels and KB

Caveat: It is not a desktop folder watcher or a 100-file factory.

Check size here, or change the file?

Use this page

Image size checker — read, do not rewrite

Use this URL to check image size, find image size in pixels, and see file size in KB. The photo stays the same. Copy the readout. Then leave if you actually need a new file.

Use a related tool

Resize pixels, shrink KB, or crop

Need a new pixel grid? Use Image Resizer . Need a smaller file in KB? Use Image Compressor . Need a tighter rectangle? Use Crop Image. None of those pages is this image size checker.

Image size checker FAQ

How do I check image size? +

Add a JPG, PNG, or WebP to this image size checker. Width and height in pixels show first, then file size in KB or MB, megapixels, aspect ratio, and print size at the DPI you pick. Nothing is uploaded. This is a readout, not a resize.

How do I find the pixel dimensions of an image? +

Drop the file or paste it with Ctrl+V. The image size finder reads naturalWidth and naturalHeight in this tab. You get the real pixel grid of the file, not the CSS size it happens to occupy on a webpage.

What image formats are supported? +

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF. Each file must stay under 40 MB. HEIC, TIFF, and PDF are declined on purpose. Save those as JPG or PNG first, then drop the converted file here.

Is my image uploaded to a server? +

No. This image size checker runs in the browser. The photo is never sent to finish the readout. Closing the tab clears it from this page, same as Flip Image and the rest of this site.

How accurate are the inches and centimeters? +

Inches and centimetres are pixels divided by the DPI you type. Print shops often want 300 DPI. Screens are often treated as 96 DPI. The file itself may not store a true DPI tag, so treat print size as a conversion, not a lab measurement.

Can I check dimensions on my phone? +

Yes. Safari or Chrome on a phone can add a photo and show width, height, and file size. The same URL works on a computer. Very large edges are scaled for the preview only; the pixel numbers stay the source size.

Can I use this online in a browser? +

Yes. This is an online image size checker. You do not install an app or a Chrome extension. Open the page, add a file, read the numbers. Desktop and phone use the same tool.

Is this free to use? +

Yes. The image size checker is free. There is no account wall and no watermark on a readout that is only numbers. You can check one photo or a small batch in this tab.

Do I need an app or browser extension? +

No. Skip image dimension checker extension searches. This page is the checker. Add a file in the browser you already have. We will not send you to a store listing.

Does this show file size in KB or MB? +

Yes. Besides pixels, the image size checker reports the file size from the File API in bytes, KB, and MB. That answers how many MB a photo is. If you need to shrink that number, use Image Compressor on this site, not this URL.

Can I check a batch of images? +

Yes. This bulk image size checker accepts up to 30 files. Click a row to see that photo’s pixels and KB. Download is not the job here; copy the stats if you need them in a note. It is not a 100-file factory.

How do I check JPEG size or PNG size? +

Add the JPEG or PNG. Check jpeg size and size check png are the same readout: pixels plus the encoded file size. PNG is often larger on disk than JPG for a photo. The pixel grid can still be identical.

Can I check image DPI and print size? +

Type a DPI, often 300 for print. The image size checker converts width and height into inches and centimetres. Image dimensions in centimetres are that conversion, not a hidden EXIF ruler. Measure photo size in cm the same way.

Does this resize the image? +

No. Image resizer is a different URL on this site. This image size checker only reports width, height, and file size. It does not change pixels, compress to a target KB, or convert formats.

How do I check if my picture is 20×20 or 1080 pixels wide? +

Read the width and height this page prints. If you needed 20×20 and you see 1200×800, the file is not 20×20. The checker does not crop it to 20×20; Crop Image or Image Resizer handles that next.

What is the difference between pixels, file size, and resolution? +

Pixels are the grid (image width and height). File size is how heavy the encoded file is in KB. Resolution in casual search often means those pixels, sometimes mixed with DPI. This image resolution finder shows the pixel grid first, then KB, then a DPI conversion you control.
