What this EXIF remover does
An EXIF remover takes the hidden fields a camera wrote into a still — GPS, body and lens names, the time the shutter fired, owner strings, a thumbnail, maker notes — and writes a new file without them. Same-format download rewrites JPEG markers, PNG chunks, and WebP chunks in the tab so the pixels stay. Switching JPG, PNG, or WebP re-encodes the picture.
Phones embed a location when Location Services was on. Marketplace listings, school forms, and a photo sent to a stranger do not need that pin. An EXIF remover is the cleanup before you post. WhatsApp and some social apps already strip fields on send; a file you attach from Files or Photos often still has them.
JPG, PNG, and WebP are the formats this EXIF remover rewrites. ICC colour stays. The Orientation flag stays so a phone still that was stored on its side does not lie down after the download. HEIC, RAW, video, and PDF are out of scope on this URL — export a JPG first, or use a document tool for PDF.
What gets stripped
The rewrite is lossless. Colour profile and rotation stay. Everything that names you, the camera, or the street comes off.
GPS and time
Latitude, longitude, altitude, and the DateTimeOriginal stamp leave the file. A map cannot be rebuilt from the download.
Camera, lens, owner
Make, model, lens, serial, artist, and copyright strings are dropped. Maker notes and the embedded thumbnail go with them.
XMP, IPTC, comments
Adobe XMP packets, IPTC APP13, JPEG COM comments, and PNG tEXt / iTXt / zTXt — including AI prompt chunks — are removed.
ICC and orientation stay
The colour profile is copied through. If the still needs Orientation 2–8, a tiny Orientation-only EXIF block is written back so the photo does not flip in a viewer.

Before you post the file
- Screenshots and photos forwarded through WhatsApp often already have empty EXIF. The EXIF remover will say nothing found; you can still download a rewritten copy.
- iPhone Settings → Camera → Formats uses HEIC by default. Share as Most Compatible or export a JPG, then drop that file here.
- Android gallery location is a camera setting. Turning it off later does not clean photos you already took.
- Keep a private original if you still want the GPS for your own map. The download is a new file; the source on disk is untouched.
- Orientation 6 (phone upright) is rewritten as a small EXIF Orientation tag so Preview and Chrome still stand the photo up.

How do I remove EXIF data from an iPhone photo?
If the still is HEIC, export a JPG from Photos (Share → Options → Most Compatible, or Mail a JPG). Drop that JPG on this EXIF remover. Safari and Chrome on iPhone both run the tool. The download is a JPG without GPS and camera fields.
How do I remove EXIF data on Android?
Open Chrome or Firefox, add the JPG, PNG, or WebP from Files or Gallery, and download the clean copy. This EXIF remover does not need the Play Store. Location in the camera app only affects new shots; old files still need a strip.
Does this EXIF remover upload my photos?
No. Bytes are read with the File API, rewritten in JavaScript, and saved from a blob URL. Closing the tab drops the copy in memory. There is no account and no server store for the picture.
Is the rewrite lossless, or does it recompress the JPEG?
If you download in the same format the photo already uses, pixels stay: JPEG, PNG, and WebP are rewritten in the tab, not painted onto a canvas. Switching the download format re-encodes the picture.
Does it keep colour profile and orientation?
Yes. ICC_PROFILE in JPEG APP2, iCCP on PNG, and ICCP on WebP are kept. If Orientation is 2 through 8, a small Orientation-only EXIF block is written back so the still does not lie on its side in Preview or a browser.
Can I strip GPS only and keep the camera name?
Not on this page. The EXIF remover clears GPS, camera, dates, owner strings, thumbnails, maker notes, XMP, and IPTC together. A tag editor that writes new fields is a different product and is not this URL.
Does it work on PNG and WebP as well as JPG?
Yes. PNG eXIf, tEXt, iTXt, zTXt, and tIME are dropped; IHDR, pixels, and colour chunks stay. WebP EXIF and XMP chunks are dropped; VP8/VP8L pixels and ICCP stay. GIF, BMP, and AVIF are not rewritten here.
Can I remove EXIF data from HEIC, RAW, video, or PDF?
No. This EXIF remover only rewrites JPG, PNG, and WebP stills. Export a JPG from the iPhone or camera app for HEIC and RAW. Video metadata and PDF document info need other tools. The page says so instead of guessing.
Can I download several clean photos as a ZIP?

Is this EXIF remover free, and is there a watermark?

Does WhatsApp or Instagram already remove EXIF data?

Does Google Photos remove EXIF data?

Does it strip AI prompt metadata too?
Yes when it sits in PNG text chunks named parameters, prompt, or workflow, and when it sits in XMP. The EXIF remover drops those chunks with the rest of the text metadata. It does not try to scrub pixels that were generated.
Why does a screenshot show nothing found?
Most screenshot pipelines never write EXIF. The EXIF remover still offers a rewritten file. Messaging-app saves and some social downloads are the same: empty tags, pixels only.
How many photos can I strip at once?
Thirty files, each under forty megabytes. That matches the size checker on this site. Larger batches: run a first ZIP, clear the queue, add the next set.
Will the picture rotate after I strip EXIF?
It should stay the way you shot it. Orientation 1 needs no tag. Values 2–8 are written back as a tiny Orientation-only EXIF so viewers that honour the flag still stand the photo up. Pixels are not rotated in a canvas.
